Santa Rosa Junior College has learned that eLumen Insights, our tool for gathering Student Learning Outcome assessment data from Canvas, does not function when a Canvas course is set to ‘Public’ visibility. This is due to data security concerns on the part of Insights, because when a course is set to Public visibility, anyone with the course URL can access it. This Canvas document details what those with a Public course's URL can access.

As the District aims for all faculty to have the ability to assess Student Learning Outcomes in Canvas, SRJC Canvas courses will now be set to ‘Course’ visibility. If an instructor or department has a need for a Canvas course to be Public visibility, please click the link below to submit a request to Distance Education Support who will confirm approval with your dean and follow up with additional details.

Please understand that Student Learning Outcome assessments done in Public courses will not transfer into Insights, and connection to Insights is required of these assessments.
