The Distance Education department at SRJC offers an Online Instructor Certification (OIC) certificate training course that is delivered in Canvas, the course management system at SRJC. OIC is a six-week, instructor-guided, asynchronous course. Be prepared to spend 6-8 hours per week on this course.
To be successful in OIC, prior Canvas experience is strongly recommended. If you have not had experience with Canvas, please complete our Welcome to Canvas self-paced course or Canvas Training-Self Paced provided by @ONE before enrolling in OSE.

By the end of OIC, you will:
- Create and organize online instructional material to promote active and engaged students.
- Design activities and identify tools that that support engagement and collaboration between students online.
- Create high-quality online materials (pages, discussions, quizzes, assignments, etc) with clear instructions, context, and grading and feedback information for students.
- Apply accessibility best practices and tools to ensure the accessibility of all course materials.
- Apply effective instructional design practices by creating one complete instructional module to be used in your course.
