Purpose

eLumen Insights gathers Outcomes/SLO assessment data generated from Canvas courses, providing a Dashboard where faculty view their assessment results and enter reflections. With Insights and Canvas Outcomes, faculty have the opportunity to improve their teaching methods, assist students in achieving success, and make informed decisions based on data that leads to more effective and stimulating learning experiences.

Description

Part 1 - Canvas Outcomes

In order to assess students on Outcomes in Canvas, faculty must follow a workflow in Canvas:

1. Outcomes are added to a course
2. Outcomes are aligned to a Rubric
3. Rubric is added to Assignments, Quizzes, or New Quizzes
4. Outcomes-aligned Rubric is scored by faculty in SpeedGrader
5. When complete, SLO assessment data populates into the Learning Mastery Gradebook, then into Insights

Part 2 - Insights Dashboard

The Insights Dashboard displays course Outcomes, mastery results and data, and provides a place for faculty to leave a Reflection on their assessment work. Once Outcome assessment data is present in the Learning Mastery Gradebook, it will available to view in the Insights Dashboard entry for the course.
