Assignments

Assignments
It is best to utilize the power of Assignments in Canvas, so that due dates populate on the Syllabus page and on the Calendar. Attaching Rubrics to Assignments make it easier to grade and for the students to understand how they will be graded.

Books

No Canvas Equivalent
Moodle Books can be simulated in Modules with navigation to previous and next, but not with the table of contents style links that Moodle had. Through a Moodle migration, Moodle Books have been imported into Modules as separate pages.

Files

Files
Canvas Files operate similar to Moodle. Through a Moodle migration, Files are imported and are available to you when in editing mode from the right sidebar. You may need to organize your files into folders and make sure they are correctly connected in your Pages and Modules. It is highly recommended to hide the Files link in the course navigation, since the list of files will likely just confuse students.

Syllabus

Syllabus
In Canvas, the Syllabus can be used to Import/Recreate your Syllabus as a page. The Syllabus is one option you can choose to set as your Home Page. The Syllabus has a list of due dates visible at the bottom of the page that dynamically populate from your Assignments and Calendar. The Syllabus can be set to be open to the public in the Course Settings area.

Wikis

Pages
A Canvas Page has Wiki functionality. In the editing mode when working on a Page, below the Rich Content Editor is an "Options" setting. By default it is set so "Only Teachers". You can change this setting by accessing the dropdown menu which allows you to set to "Teachers and Students" and also "Anyone" which will open the editing function to anyone else with a role in the course.
